In the mid 1950s I was born into a very working class family in the UK. My politics have always been of the centre perhaps a touch to the Left but I am also a big believer that people should care for themselves and their families and not expect the state to do so except in the worst of times. Such self reliance also engenders the desire to better one's life and provides the environment in which to do so.

Sometime, over the past 25 years, the cultures of the UK and Australia have changed from the self reliant society in which I was raised to one in which people expect to be directed and mollycoddled by the state. Along that path also, probably aided by consumerism, we have lost the concept of community and have no desire to aid or support our kith and kin.

I find I no longer fit into this brave new world and neither do I wish to; the following are a few reasons why:

1 - People taking or more likely feigning offence, usually on behalf of cultural groups with which they have no connection, at anything one says which they perceive could, possibly, be hurtful to said group.

2 - People acting like precious delicate flowers and needing counselling or "support" for any unusual occurrence to which they have even the most tenuous connection.

3 - White men, being demonised and persecuted for their perceived oppression of and violence towards women.

4 - White men, being demonised and persecuted for their dominant role in society despite the fact history has clearly demonstrated that men are the builders, business creators and warriors.

5 - People who live in expensive houses, have electronic consumer junk from wall-to-wall and both husband and wife usually have jobs in education, government or similar with a combined income above $200k and vote Green lecturing me on how I should welcome much higher power bills to combat global warming.

6 - People who live well off and consumer type lifestyles and have just bought a new car whinging about how the world isn't doing enough to combat global warming.

7 - Couples with a combined income of $350k being given tax credits for their child care fees.

8 - Five percent of the people who live in Australia being classified as so disabled they are unable to do any work at all and thus receive $24k cash per year (Disability Support Pension) and a stack of other social security benefits.

9 - Journalism which has become a cover for the authors political leanings and opinions rather than a clear reporting of the facts.

10 - People earning more, often well more, than $100k labouring under the delusion they are working class and "Men of the people".

11 - The bizarre concept that it is desirable and rational for two people of the same sex to marry one-another.

12 - The notion that if Australia destroys its coal and gas power stations we will be helping to combat global warming when even the most extreme estimate attributes only 1.5% of total global warming to Australia.

13 - My society and its Judeo-Christian based values being denigrated and ridiculed by people who have substantially benefited by being raised and nurtured under it.

14 - My society and its Judeo-Christian based values being negated and diluted by the introduction of migrants from cultures which are vastly different and who have no intention of integrating into Australian culture but rather would see it surrender to their own.

15 - Migrants who have no wish to integrate into Australian culture being aggressively assisted and encouraged by people born in Australia who have eagerly received all the benefits this country offers but now wish to damage, perhaps destroy, the society which raised and nurtured them.

16 - Health and Safety legislation which treats adults as though they were five years old.

17 - People who vote Green and go on demonstrations to stop hunting or turn the whole state into National Parks but who never set foot into the bush and don't recognise their own hypocrisy as meat eaters and consumers of timber.

18 - Not being legally allowed to say a particular thing about another race or culture in case I "offend" a member of that race or culture.

19 - That the president of the Human Rights Commission gives a speech and  says; "Sadly you can say what you like around the kitchen table at home" and receives a standing ovation for it.
